How long does the effect of neural therapy last?
The duration and persistence of the effect of neural therapy can vary depending on many factors. First of all, the correct term here is “neural therapy”, not “neural therapy”.
When is the effect of neural therapy felt?
1- Immediate Effect: Local anesthetics (e.g. procaine or lidocaine) applied in neural therapy can have a rapid effect on the nervous system. This usually manifests itself as a relief of pain, spasm or tension. The effect of local anesthetics is short-lived (about 20-60 minutes), but their regulatory effects on the autonomic nervous system may persist for longer.
2 - Delayed effect: If there is toxin accumulation, inflammation or disturbed areas in the connective tissue (e.g. scars or traces of old infections), the effects of neural therapy may occur later. After the injection, the healing process usually starts within 1 to 3 days, during which time the effects continue to gradually manifest themselves. It may take some time for the tissues to detoxify and the nervous system to reorganize.
Factors Determining the Duration of Effect of Neuraltherapy
The duration of the effect of neural therapy may vary depending on various factors:
1- Type of Local Anesthetic Used:
- Procaine: It is fast acting and has a short duration. However, it has a strong regulatory effect on the autonomic nervous system.
- Lidocaine: It may last longer than procaine, but its regulatory effect is not as strong as procaine.
2-Regulation of the Autonomic Nervous System:
The main effect of neural therapy is through its regulatory function on the autonomic nervous system rather than the drug itself. This approach allows the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system to be regained.
Therefore, the effects achieved during treatment are not only based on the action of local anesthetics, but also due to the regulatory effect on the nervous system.
3-Type and Duration of the disease:
Acute Conditions: In acute pain or symptoms, neural therapy usually has a quick and pronounced effect.
Chronic Conditions: For long-term pain or chronic diseases, more sessions may be required for the effect to appear and become permanent.
4-Presence of Disruptive Areas:
If there are areas of disruption in the body, such as scar tissue, dental infections or past trauma, the response to treatment may be delayed or the healing process may take longer.
Duration of Effects
Short Term Effects: The effect of local anesthetics occurs immediately after injection and is usually felt within a few hours. Although this time is limited, the regulatory process initiated on the nervous system continues during this time.
Long-term effects: Neural therapy not only provides symptom relief, but also allows the nervous system and tissues to rebuild themselves. With an appropriate treatment program, these effects can translate into a long-term healing process.
Persistence of Response: If the interference areas are completely eliminated during the treatment, the effects achieved are usually permanent.
Scheduling Neural Therapy Sessions
First Session: After the first injection, it is carefully evaluated whether the patient experiences rapid relief of symptoms.
Three Session Rule: An evaluation period of three sessions is usually recommended. If a significant improvement in symptoms is observed during this period, it is considered appropriate to continue treatment.
Duration of Treatment: If a reduction in symptoms of about 50% is noticed, it is estimated that the treatment can be completed within 5-6 sessions in total.
Result
Depending on the treatment, the effect of neural therapy can sometimes be immediate, and sometimes it can occur within a few days due to the accumulation of toxins or the general condition of the tissues. The success of the treatment is related to the regulation of the autonomic nervous system rather than the effect of local anesthetics alone. Neural therapy can offer both short-term relief and long-term improvement when applied with an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to the individual.
