The Scientific Nazlikul Award for Neural Therapy is a special scientific distinction presented by the BNR – Scientific Society for Neural Therapy and Regulation Medicine within the framework of international Neural Therapy congresses.

The meaning of this award extends beyond the recognition of an individual scientific achievement or a distinguished professional career. It honors scientists and Neural Therapy practitioners who have devoted many years to the field, contributed to its scientific and clinical development, shared their knowledge and experience, supported the education of subsequent generations, and created lasting value for the future of Neural Therapy.

For the BNR, therefore, this award has a deeper meaning.

From its beginnings, the BNR's understanding of Neural Therapy has never been limited to teaching injection techniques. Rather, it represents a medical approach that does not fragment the human being into individual organs and symptoms, but considers the patient within the interconnected context of the nervous system, the autonomic nervous system, connective tissue, segmental relationships, functional systems, and the regulatory capacity of the organism as a whole.

The generations that preceded us have played an essential role in shaping this way of thinking. They passed on not only knowledge and clinical experience, but also a particular way of understanding medicine.

In my own medical and scientific journey, Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Horst Ferdinand Herget and Prim. Dr. Otto Bergsmann were two important representatives of this intellectual and clinical tradition.

One of the most important lessons I learned from Prof. Herget was not to draw rigid boundaries between medical disciplines and never to view a patient solely through the perspective of a single specialty. His approach taught me to consider Neural Therapy, Manual Medicine, Pain Medicine, and Regulation Medicine not as isolated disciplines, but as complementary perspectives, and to search for the functional relationships that lie behind a symptom. This understanding had a profound influence on the development of my own medical thinking.

Otto Bergsmann added an important physiological depth to this perspective. In his regulation-oriented understanding of physiology, the organism is not simply the sum of independent organs. It is a dynamic biological network in which different systems continuously communicate, influence one another, and attempt to adapt to changing internal and external conditions.

To understand Neural Therapy merely as "an injection into a painful point" would therefore significantly reduce its true potential.

Within the philosophy developed and carried forward by the BNR over many years, Neural Therapy and Regulation Medicine are two complementary fields of medical thought and therapeutic action.

While Neural Therapy seeks, particularly through the autonomic nervous system and neurovegetative connections, to influence disturbed regulatory processes within the organism, Regulation Medicine reminds us that disease cannot be understood solely through the symptom that becomes clinically visible. The adaptive, compensatory, and regulatory processes of the organism as a whole must also be taken into consideration.

This represents one of the fundamental principles of the BNR:

  • Rather than merely suppressing the symptom, understand regulation.
  • Rather than seeing only the disease, see the patient.
  • Rather than teaching only a technique, transmit a way of medical thinking.

The Scientific Nazlikul Award for Neural Therapy was born from precisely this understanding.

The award is intended to represent far more than the name of an individual. What matters most to us is the transfer of knowledge and experience from one generation to the next.

Our teachers passed their knowledge and clinical experience on to us. Our responsibility, however, is not merely to preserve this heritage. We must question it critically, connect it with contemporary scientific knowledge, strengthen and develop it through research, and ultimately pass it on to the next generation at a more advanced level.

Only in this way can a scientific tradition remain alive.

  • One generation learns.
  • One generation develops.
  • One generation passes it on.

And each new generation adds its own scientific contribution to the knowledge it has inherited.

For this reason, the Scientific Nazlikul Award for Neural Therapy recognizes not only scientific achievement, but also long-term dedication, continuity, teaching, the sharing of knowledge, and respect for a lifetime of contribution.

It is an expression of gratitude to scientists and Neural Therapy practitioners who have contributed to the development of Neural Therapy, strengthened its scientific foundations, shared their clinical experience with colleagues, and helped educate new generations.

At the same time, the award carries a message for those who will follow us:

Knowledge grows when it is shared. Science advances when it is questioned. And a medical tradition remains alive only when it is passed on to the next generation.

The Scientific Nazlikul Award for Neural Therapy brings together our appreciation for the legacy of previous generations and our responsibility for the future.

It represents the continuation of a scientific and clinical way of thinking passed on to us by teachers such as Prof. Dr. Horst Ferdinand Herget and Prim. Dr. Otto Bergsmann, and carried forward by scientists and physicians who practice, question, investigate, teach, and further develop Neural Therapy.

For the BNR, Neural Therapy is therefore far more than a therapeutic technique.

Neural Therapy is a way of medical thinking that seeks to understand the human being in their wholeness and interconnectedness, places regulation at the center of clinical reasoning, and must at the same time continue to evolve through scientific inquiry.

This award is an expression of our recognition, gratitude, and respect for those who have devoted a significant part of their professional lives to this way of thinking and to the advancement of Neural Therapy.
