Neural therapy is the most common treatment method in all pain treatment centers in Europe. Thanks to this treatment method, patients do not have to live with their pain. Migraine, tension-type headache, neck, back and lower back pain, neck and lumbar herniated discs, tinnitus and dizziness, forgetfulness, neuralgia, organic dysfunctions, all kinds of joint dysfunctions and pain, sports injuries, varicose veins and cellulite treatment, sleep disorders and irregularities, interference field treatment are some of them.
Scar tissues that appear after surgery cause many diseases. Unless proven otherwise, all scars can pose a problem.
Not only scar tissues, but also a previous illness, medication, intestinal flora disorder, the house we live in, the water we drink, the cell phone we use, dental treatments, birth and especially cesarean births, the clothes we wear can all be interference fields. One of the main principles of neural therapy is to eliminate these interference fields. There are many women whose lives have changed after cesarean section. Within the scope of modern medicine, these people have been traveling from doctor to doctor for years. Every day their pain and complaints change and intensify. Thanks to neural therapy, it is possible to restore people to their health in a very short time.
Acupuncture has been attracting increasing interest in our country recently, as many places have started training programs approved by the Ministry of Health. This development is very pleasing.
However, it is interesting that some of my colleagues who teach Acupuncture in these seminars, based on the similarity between Acupuncture and Neural Therapy, describe Neural Therapy as “a crude acupuncture”. This misjudgment stems from the fact that these colleagues have no knowledge about Neural Therapy.
NEURAL THERAPY AND ACUPUNCTURE MECHANISMS OF ACTION AND AREAS OF USE
In this context, I felt the need to evaluate the commonalities, similarities and mechanism of action of Neural Therapy and Acupuncture and the differences between them from a broad perspective.
ACUPUNCTURE
Just as in nature there is a balance of opposites such as “day and night”, “cold and hot”, “bitter and sweet”, so in the human body there is a balance system of such opposites. This system is called the “yin” and “yang” balance or also known as the vegetative nervous system. In healthy people, this balance is in place. As this balance starts to deteriorate, discomfort begins to appear. The advanced degree is the deterioration we call disease.
There are tens of thousands of reasons that affect human health, a few examples can be given; chemical drugs we use, nutritional errors, fast-food style standing and fast nutrition, stress, tension, anger, difficult living conditions, lack of movement, artificial foods and additives, harmful substances such as cigarettes and alcohol, extreme heat and cold, drafts, air pollution, damp environment, toilet habit disorder, electrical pollution known as Electrosmog, environmental pollution and even the clothes we wear are among the reasons that disrupt this balance.
TREATMENT PROTOCOL IN ACUPUNCTURE
In acupuncture, the effect is achieved by inserting needles into certain points. In SCT (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Body Acupuncture, an effect is initiated by applying needles to approximately 361 previously identified points. Approximately 80% of these points are trigger points. These are points that lie on the main meridians or channels and whose specific effectiveness has been empirically established.
The main known effects of acupuncture are:
- Analgesia
- Regulation of the vegetative nervous system (although acupuncture regulates the VSS, it loses its effectiveness if there are obstructions in conduction)
- Sedation
- Relaxation
- Immunostimulation
- Vasodilation
These effects of acupuncture are explained by anatomical, histological, embryological, bio-physical, biochemical, neurophysiological and physiological mechanisms. Many scientific studies have been published especially on its analgesic effect.
It has been determined as a result of controlled studies that Acupuncture is significantly more effective than placebo in many types of pain, and that its effectiveness in chronic pain is high enough to be compared with morphine.
Side effects and complications are very rare. Occasionally, patients may experience an increase in complaints, which may be caused by the physician giving too much and/or too strong a stimulus and resolves within a few hours.
Another common complication is fainting due to increased vaso-vagal tone. To avoid this, it is better to hospitalize the patient, especially in the first sessions.
The number of diseases treated with acupuncture is increasing day by day. Previously, acupuncture is an important complementary medicine method supporting coronary heart diseases, heart rhythm disorders, high cholesterol, gout, arthrosis, behçet's disease.
In addition, very good results are obtained when it is applied together with neural therapy in injuries, tears, meniscus tears, rheumatoid arthritis, surgical scars and sequelae, repair and repair of skin wrinkles and cellulitis. The milk of mothers who cannot breastfeed their babies due to lack of milk comes with acupuncture treatment. Complaints such as nausea and headache in pregnant women disappear with acupuncture treatment.
In sports injuries, the athlete's rest period is shortened by at least half. The immune systems of children with frequent flu, colds, angina, pharyngitis, ear infections are strengthened and the risk of developing these diseases is significantly reduced. Stress, tension and high blood pressure are relieved and complaints disappear in a short time.

NEURALTERAPY
Although the philosophy and application areas of Neuraltherapy are explained very comprehensively in the book, it is useful to briefly mention it here again in a holistic manner.
Neuraltherapy is a treatment method that emerged in the 1920s as a result of two German doctors with the surname Huneke, who started to use a method that had been practiced before but was about to be forgotten and observed some coincidences well.
In addition to its local effect, neural therapy has today been proven to work through a nervous, hormonal, cellular and psychic regulation system with cybernetic interaction.
The Huneke brothers, who first discovered and practiced Neural Therapy, did not know Acupuncture and used Local Anesthetics to achieve the effect. Therefore, Neural Therapy is not a method developed under the influence of Acupuncture. Neuraltherapy is not just injections applied to certain points. Because Neural Therapy is based on all anatomical formations in the body, the basic substance, connective tissue and the Vegetative Nervous System. Apart from point injections, there are intra-articular, scar, interference field, ganglion, muscle, nerve and trigger point injections.
Some changes occur in the body before diseases occur. It is a branch of science that reveals that the disorders that modern medicine cannot explain and are said to be related to the patient's own psychology are based on irregularities in the patient's stressed vegetative nervous system.
Neural therapy is a regulation therapy with the most effective results among reflex therapies. The time connection of diseases is very important in Neural Therapy. How and why the disease occurs is very important in terms of diagnosis.
Until four to five years ago, only physicians who had been to Germany and received training in this form of treatment were practicing it in Turkey. However, for the last four to five years, it has been a form of treatment that has been attracting increasing interest in Turkey and many physicians have participated in its training.
For this reason, some physicians who only perform Acupuncture have the wrong and unfair opinion that “Neural Therapy is a crude form of Acupuncture and those who cannot fully identify the points make Local Anesthetic injection in a larger area”.
I have some reservations about whether those who make such a claim really have a scientific background in the subject they are practicing and whether they have bothered to read at least a few important publications on the subject they criticize and whether they are confident about why and how they will stand behind these words.
Neural therapy works through two basic mechanisms. The first one is the segmental mechanism. This is based on the injection of anesthetic into the segment where the discomfort lies and the connection of this segment with the spinal cord. The second is the elimination of the area of discomfort (the interference field). The injection into this area results in a sudden elimination of the symptoms, which in Neural Therapy we call the secunden phenomenon, the secondane effect or the Lightning Phenomenon.
Segmental therapy is about all parts of the segment acting as a uniform whole in response to important processes within the segment. The stimulus travels from the periphery via the spinal cord to the organ asociated with the respective segment (cutivisceral reflex pathway), or from the organ to the other organ via the spinal cord (viscerovisceral reflex pathway).
All neurovegetative system functions are related to the participation of humoral, cellular, neural and hormonal regulatory mechanisms in the reactions in the system as a result of their inter-adjustment. Any disturbance in just one of these mechanisms will result in functional dysregulation of the whole system. In other words, the disease will affect not only one organ but the whole body.
Neural therapy with local anesthetics applied to the disrupted segmental tissue not only interrupts pathological reflex pathways, but also repolarizes the disrupted cell membrane to the correct potential, restoring normal vegetative functions.
Previous or existing local irritations (chemical, physical or traumatic) in any part of the body can become a pathological site or, in other words, an interference field, disrupting transmission in the neurovegetative system and causing disturbances in some of the other body functions. Neural therapy applied to this area with a local anesthetic can correct this dysfunction and an immediate reduction in symptoms can be observed. These dysfunctional areas are often localized in the head, especially the teeth, tonsils and paranasal sinuses. However, the Classical Acupuncture approach does not have such a broad perspective.
Life is not only bounded by matter, but also by energy. A cell membrane normally has a positive charge on the outer side and a negative charge on the inner side in a resting state. In the event of excitation, when the permeability of the membrane to sodium ions suddenly increases, sodium ions flow into the inner side so suddenly and rapidly that the potential difference between the outer and inner surfaces disappears and even a greater positive charge accumulates on the inner side than on the outer side, and the normal resting potential disappears (depolarization). In this state, potassium ions have left the cell and sodium ions have entered the cell.
Under normal conditions, immediately after depolarization occurs, the pores of the membrane lose their permeability to sodium ions again. In this case, potassium ions return to the cell and sodium ions leave the cell and the cell membrane becomes impermeable again. Thus, the normal resting potential is restored (Repolarization).
Normally, the potential contained in the cell is 40-90 millivolts and this potential decreases with each stimulus (Depolarization) and immediately afterwards the cell is recharged by providing the necessary energy from oxygen metabolism (Repolarization).
However, sometimes the cell fails to repolarize in the face of a very strong stimulus or as a result of prolonged or chronic stimulus. It remains permanently depolarized and therefore the weakened or diseased cell cannot further integrate its activities and maintain its functions.
The membrane potential of the continuously depolarized cell has dropped to zero millivolts. In this case, the local anesthetic used for Neural Therapy hyperpolarizes the cell with a potential of approximately 290 millivolts. When the injections are repeated, it leaves some potential in the cell until the cell stores its normal potential of 40-90 Mv.
The arrival of the neurotherapeutic agent at the disturbed site and its high potential repolarizing and thus stabilizing the disturbed cell membrane potential not only eliminates the dysregulation in the neurovegetative system, but also restores neural, humoral, cellular and hormonal activity.
As a result, it can be seen that the repolarization ability of the cells and their ability to maintain themselves at the required potential improves as a result of repeated injections, which plays an important role in the relief of discomfort.
In Europe, Neural Therapy is the most frequently used treatment method in all pain treatment centers and regulation therapies. Thanks to this treatment method, patients no longer have to live with pain and chronic complaints.

TREATMENT PROTOCOL IN NEURAL THERAPY
1- Comprehensive Anamnesis and Examination:
The history taken from the patient in Neural Therapy differs in some aspects. In addition to the general history taken in this context, there is an obligation to take a special history that will evaluate the person with the Neural Therapy approach. Because it is very important to establish the temporal relationship between the events that coincide with the onset of the disease.
Surgical interventions: What are the changes that occur in the patient after an operation or dental treatment? Are these related to the occurrence of the patient's complaints?
Traumas: It should be questioned whether there was a trauma before the onset of the complaints. This trauma may be localized anywhere in the body or it may be widespread.
Previous illnesses: Are there any previous illnesses, antibiotics or medication abuse that may be related to the onset of symptoms?
Emotional intensification and trauma: Did the onset of symptoms occur after an emotional intensity? How long have stress, grief, sadness, distress and anger been present?
2- Local/Surface Treatment:
The first approach is local treatment. Locally, injections in the form of quaddel are given wherever the pain or problem is located.
Local Anesthetic is injected into the trigger points detected as a result of the Physical Examination. 71-80% of acupuncture points are trigger points. If a trigger point is active, it is obvious that there is lymphatic dysfunction in that area. With the logic of acupuncture, it does not matter whether that point is painful or sensitive because Body Acupuncture points are always fixed and can be detected. Within the framework of the diagnosis, the point that is thought to be beneficial in the treatment is stimulated.
However, in Neural Therapy, it is aimed to regulate this point that has become active and gives pathological reflexes. Because trigger points are local sensitive points where lymphatic flow accumulates in the muscle. The lymphatic system is a unidirectional pathway and aims to transport the residual substances that have occurred in the organ in the tissue. The superficial injection method can also be performed on special acupuncture points (acu-points). Acupuncture treats the perivascular sympathetic plexus, sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers. These are the only structures in the body that can translate the signal from the needle tip into an action potential. Acu-points do not really exist; they are places where autonomic nerve fibers are concentrated, especially around blood and lymph vessels (research: Schnorrenberger, Germany).
The so-called acu-points on the body, ears, scalp, inside the mouth, tongue and other areas are very important for the regulation of the autonomic nervous system. The advantage of this over Traditional Chinese Acupuncture treatment is that when appropriate drugs are injected into the acu-points, the stimulation from this area, which is rich in sympathetic fibers, has a dramatic effect.
From this point of view, even with the Acupuncture approach, the application of Local Anesthetic has a more regulating feature than the needle inserted into the Acupuncture point.
Perhaps from this point of view, Injection Acupuncture can be defined. However, Neural Therapy is not limited to local injections but includes a more comprehensive approach.
However, what acupuncturists say for neural therapy and local injections to acu points represent at most 25% of Neural Therapy. When you look at the whole book, it will be seen that the therapy is in different approaches rather than local fixed points. These physicians, regardless of their academic titles, who claim to have an opinion without having knowledge, should first do some work on what neural therapy is.
3-Segmental and Deep Injections:
In cases where local treatment is insufficient, segmental treatment is used. The definition of segment is not the same as dermatome; segment covers the dermatome. The essence of segmental treatment is that any irritation causes a reflex response in all or part of the segment and an interaction from the periphery to the organ and from the organ to the periphery by finding a path through the medulla spinalis (cutaneo-visceral reflex line). In patients who do not benefit from acupuncture, segmental and deep Local Anesthetic injections should be the first application.
HEAD and MACKENZIE observed that a diseased organ produces various reactions in the skin and subcutaneous zones, which are regular and precisely defined. From this they concluded that any organ may communicate with a certain superficial region of the body through cutaneo-visceral reflex channels. The human body can be divided into a total of 30 segments, 8 in the cervical region, 12 in the thoracic region, 5 in the lumbar region and 5 in the sacral region. All the formations within a segment are in relationship with each other. For this reason, an obstacle or stimulus that will occur within the segment will affect not only the problematic area but the entire segment. This mechanism is utilized in neural therapy. For example, quadel or periosteal stimulation applied to a segment is not only limited to the area of application, but also positively affects the organs, muscles and all other structures within the segment and increases the blood supply of that area.
The segment is also diagnostically important. The color changes observed in the segment by inspection and palpation, the tone of the muscles, the functions of organs and joints give us information about the patient. Even the interference fields within that area can cause localized skin and subcutaneous changes. A successful treatment will also result in an improvement in the tone and turgor within the segment. Segment therapy is an important therapeutic approach in Neural Therapy.
With the injection of procaine into the irritated segment, membrane polarization is restored, pathogenic conductions in the reflex lines are eliminated and normal conduction is established. Thus, all vegetative processes return to their optimal function.
An example of deep injections is sacroiliac joint injection.
Attention!!! Using a few drops of procaine in the right place is more meaningful and effective than using liters of medication.
The patient should be checked 24 hours after each injection and any changes in symptoms should be recorded. If there is a response to treatment, segmental application should be continued until the disease is cured. If there is no response to treatment, the patient's anamnesis should be reviewed and the temporal relationship of the disease should be re-evaluated.
4- Intra and paravasal Injection:
This approach is especially helpful in patients with VSS dysfunction at the forefront. In the classical understanding of acupuncture, the importance of VSS dysfunction is not at the forefront.
5- Ganglion Treatment:
In cases where there is no response to treatment, it is necessary to intervene in the higher acting organs. In this sense, the ganglia in the area where the discomfort is located are also included in the treatment. Ganglion injection is the fastest way for ganglion detoxification. Besides the known effects of ganglia in modern medicine, we know that sympathetic branches are very important. Ganglion therapy is the backbone of Neural Therapy.
There is no such approach in acupuncture, nor is there even an assumption that such an effect could be possible. It should be known that each sympathetic ganglion injection has a permanent effect at the site and region of application and is an indispensable part of regulation therapy.
I am of the opinion that if the physicians dealing with acupuncture learn Neural Therapy, their success in their daily practice will increase and their healing times will shorten. Neuraltherapy is a method that can be applied alone or can be combined very well with Acupuncture.
6- Disruptive Field Treatment:
As mentioned above, a previous or existing local irritation in any part of the body can become a pathological area (interference field) and cause disorders in some of the body functions by disrupting the neurovegetative system. Therefore, in case of no response to treatment, it is extremely important to investigate and treat the interference fields. Of course, first of all, it is necessary to examine whether the Adler points are sensitive or not and to regulate the problematic region or area.
It is known that at least 30% of the patients we see today are caused by the interference field. It is not possible to achieve success without eliminating the interference field. The most effective form of therapy in the elimination of the interference field is Neural Therapy.
It should not be forgotten that approximately 30% of the interference fields are in the oral maxillofacial dental complex. In addition to Neural Therapy in the treatment of diseases, utilizing other complementary therapies such as Acupuncture, manual therapy, magnetic field, biophoton, homeopathy, ozone therapy, colon hydrotherapy etc. will further increase the success of us physicians.
Conclusion How should the approach be in treatment?
If the patient has a needle phobia, it would be correct to treat both the acupuncture points and the localizations where Neural Therapy will be applied with a soft laser rather than acupuncture or Neural Therapy.
However, when using a soft laser, I worked with a combination device developed by Dr. Lüdwig, which sends the procaine wavelength to the target via Laser + Magnetic Field. I observed more successful results with this device than the most effective soft laser device I know.
Those without needle phobia!
In patients who are not needle-phobic and do not have any VSS dysfunction, it may make sense to start with microsystem acupuncture. Neural therapy should be prioritized if a rapid effect and result is aimed. Because the effect of neural therapy is very fast and regulation starts early.
In patients who are resistant to therapy and whose discomfort started after a certain event, Neural Therapy is arguably the most effective method. Because the source of the problem is the interference field and it needs to be eliminated as soon as possible. After the interference field is eliminated, microsystem acupuncture can be used to support the psychological structure of the patient and to ensure energy regulation.
Acupuncture and Neural Therapy can be applied together. Both methods have an effect on regulation. The proximity of both methods to each other shows that they can be treated in combination. If a question is asked “which one can be given up”, I can say acupuncture out loud.
However, although I am a physician who completed his acupuncture training in Germany in 1992, I am a person who applies combined therapies in my own clinic. It has been a long time since I applied acupuncture needles to body acupuncture points. I have been applying LA since Prof. Dr. Dr. Herget's comparative applications of procain to acupuncture points with acupuncture needles and I observed the clear superiority of LA. Because many of these points are already trigger points. I know that a point that is not sensitive and does not give a pathological signal should not be stimulated.
I have gained this experience primarily from Prof. Herget, Felix Mann and Jochen Gleditsch. Instead, I also inject Local Anesthetic into the Acupuncture point that I find active, which I think is effective in the treatment while applying with the logic of Neural Therapy. However, as a physician who frequently uses microsystem Acupuncture, I apply Acupuncture needles to the points I find pathological. In intraoral Acupuncture, I only use LA, which I know its importance for Neural Therapy.
The similarity of indications shortens the duration of therapy in combined therapy. While 15-20 sessions are frequently applied with the classical Acupuncture approach, patients combined with Neuraltherapy recover in much shorter periods of time. The average number of applications in Neural Therapy is 4-5 sessions.
As a result, Neuraltherapy is an application method that can be successfully applied alone and can be combined with other complementary medicine methods. However, the effect, approach, evaluation and application of Neural Therapy is different from Acupuncture. It is a method with its own discipline.
In developed countries and even in China, there are Traditional Chinese Medicine chairs rather than Acupuncture chairs. In addition to pulse and tongue diagnosis, they combine the approach of Tao philosophy, the importance of the five elements, nutrition, phytotherapy, exercise, psychological support and certain purification practices. I think the solution with acupuncture alone is a bit unique to our country.
My experience and observation during my time working with Prof. Dr. Herget and studies in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Belgium and Latin American countries show that this is the case.
Attacking or insulting a method without knowing it is a bit of an Eastern approach. As someone who knows what Acupuncture and Neural Therapy are and has academic studies on this subject, I think I have an obligation to clear up the confusion here or to show the similarities and differences of the two methods.
With Acupuncture, it is possible to have an effect on the body only from one place, that is, from the surface, while with Neural Therapy, it is possible to have an effect in many different layers. The ability of a pulsatile magnetic field with a physiological pulse to penetrate deep into the organism is much better and supports the laser effect! In fact, in this case the laser is only a guide, while the magnetic field can reach the depth of the body. It is a system that allows both the biological information of the body itself and the information of the substances to be used from outside the body (e.g. homeopathic substances, medicines, nosodes, body blood, allergens and Bach flowers) to be transported into the body.

Treatment approach
In chronic conditions: NT should be the first choice, especially if the problem is temporally related. NT is also the first choice for pain management. The results obtained in 10-20 sessions in acupuncture treatment are achieved in 3-5 sessions with NT.

Therefore, Neural Therapy is not a method developed under the influence of Acupuncture. Neuraltherapy is not just injections applied to certain points. Because Neural Therapy is based on all anatomical formations in the body, the basic substance, connective tissue and the Vegetative Nervous System. Apart from point injections, there are intra-articular, scar, interference field, ganglion, muscle, nerve and trigger point injections.
Some changes occur in the body before diseases occur. It is a branch of science that reveals that the disorders that modern medicine cannot explain and are said to be related to the patient's own psychology are based on irregularities in the patient's stressed vegetative nervous system.
Neural therapy is a regulation therapy with the most effective results among reflex therapies. The time connection of diseases is very important in Neural Therapy. How and why the disease occurs is very important in terms of diagnosis.
Until four to five years ago, only physicians who had been to Germany and received training in this form of treatment were practicing it in Turkey. However, for the last four to five years, it has been a form of treatment that has been attracting increasing interest in Turkey and many physicians have participated in its training.
For this reason, some physicians who only perform Acupuncture have the wrong and unfair opinion that “Neural Therapy is a crude form of Acupuncture and those who cannot fully identify the points make Local Anesthetic injection in a larger area”.
I have some reservations about whether those who make such a claim really have a scientific background in the subject they are practicing and whether they have bothered to read at least a few important publications on the subject they criticize and whether they are confident about why and how they will stand behind these words.
Neural therapy works through two basic mechanisms. The first one is the segmental mechanism. This is based on the injection of anesthetic into the segment where the discomfort lies and the connection of this segment with the spinal cord. The second is the elimination of the area of discomfort (the interference field). The injection into this area results in a sudden elimination of the symptoms, which in Neural Therapy we call the secunden phenomenon, the secondane effect or the Lightning Phenomenon.
Segmental therapy is about all parts of the segment acting as a uniform whole in response to important processes within the segment. The stimulus travels from the periphery via the spinal cord to the organ asociated with the respective segment (cutivisceral reflex pathway), or from the organ to the other organ via the spinal cord (viscerovisceral reflex pathway).
All neurovegetative system functions are related to the participation of humoral, cellular, neural and hormonal regulatory mechanisms in the reactions in the system as a result of their inter-adjustment. Any disturbance in just one of these mechanisms will result in functional dysregulation of the whole system. In other words, the disease will affect not only one organ but the whole body.
Neural therapy with local anesthetics applied to the disrupted segmental tissue not only interrupts pathological reflex pathways, but also repolarizes the disrupted cell membrane to the correct potential, restoring normal vegetative functions.
Previous or existing local irritations (chemical, physical or traumatic) in any part of the body can become a pathological site or, in other words, an interference field, disrupting transmission in the neurovegetative system and causing disturbances in some of the other body functions. Neural therapy applied to this area with a local anesthetic can correct this dysfunction and an immediate reduction in symptoms can be observed. These dysfunctional areas are often localized in the head, especially the teeth, tonsils and paranasal sinuses. However, the Classical Acupuncture approach does not have such a broad perspective.
Life is not only bounded by matter, but also by energy. A cell membrane normally has a positive charge on the outer side and a negative charge on the inner side in a resting state. In the event of excitation, when the permeability of the membrane to sodium ions suddenly increases, sodium ions flow into the inner side so suddenly and rapidly that the potential difference between the outer and inner surfaces disappears and even a greater positive charge accumulates on the inner side than on the outer side, and the normal resting potential disappears (depolarization). In this state, potassium ions have left the cell and sodium ions have entered the cell.
Under normal conditions, immediately after depolarization occurs, the pores of the membrane lose their permeability to sodium ions again. In this case, potassium ions return to the cell and sodium ions leave the cell and the cell membrane becomes impermeable again. Thus, the normal resting potential is restored (Repolarization).
Normally, the potential contained in the cell is 40-90 millivolts and this potential decreases with each stimulus (Depolarization) and immediately afterwards the cell is recharged by providing the necessary energy from oxygen metabolism (Repolarization).
However, sometimes the cell fails to repolarize in the face of a very strong stimulus or as a result of prolonged or chronic stimulus. It remains permanently depolarized and therefore the weakened or diseased cell cannot further integrate its activities and maintain its functions.
The membrane potential of the continuously depolarized cell has dropped to zero millivolts. In this case, the local anesthetic used for Neural Therapy hyperpolarizes the cell with a potential of approximately 290 millivolts. When the injections are repeated, it leaves some potential in the cell until the cell stores its normal potential of 40-90 Mv.
The arrival of the neurotherapeutic agent at the disturbed site and its high potential repolarizing and thus stabilizing the disturbed cell membrane potential not only eliminates the dysregulation in the neurovegetative system, but also restores neural, humoral, cellular and hormonal activity.
As a result, it can be seen that the repolarization ability of the cells and their ability to maintain themselves at the required potential improves as a result of repeated injections, which plays an important role in the relief of discomfort.
In Europe, Neural Therapy is the most frequently used treatment method in all pain treatment centers and regulation therapies. Thanks to this treatment method, patients no longer have to live with pain and chronic complaints.
These include migraine, tension-type headache, neck-back and low back pain, neck and lumbar herniated discs, tinnitus and dizziness, forgetfulness, neuralgia, organic dysfunctions, all kinds of joint dysfunctions and pain, sports injuries, varicose veins and cellulite treatment, sleep disorder and irregularity, interference field treatment.
Scar tissues that occur after surgery cause many diseases. Unless proven otherwise, all scars can pose a problem. However, such information does not exist in Classical Acupuncture.
It is known that there are cases that resist treatment in acupuncture, but there is no logic and concept of interference field. However, elimination and therapy of the interference field is an important approach for Neural Therapy. Not only scar tissues, but also a past illness, medication used, disorder in the intestinal flora, the house we live in, the water we drink, the cell phone we use, dental treatments, birth and especially cesarean births, the clothes we wear can all be interference fields.
One of the main principles of neural therapy is to eliminate these interference fields.
TREATMENT PROTOCOL IN NEURAL THERAPY
1- Comprehensive Anamnesis and Examination:
The history taken from the patient in Neural Therapy differs in some aspects. In addition to the general history taken in this context, there is an obligation to take a special history that will evaluate the person with the Neural Therapy approach. Because it is very important to establish the temporal relationship between the events that coincide with the onset of the disease.
Surgical interventions: What are the changes that occur in the patient after an operation or dental treatment? Are these related to the occurrence of the patient's complaints?
Traumas: It should be questioned whether there was a trauma before the onset of the complaints. This trauma may be localized anywhere in the body or it may be widespread.
Previous illnesses: Are there any previous illnesses, antibiotics or medication abuse that may be related to the onset of symptoms?
Emotional intensification and trauma: Did the onset of symptoms occur after an emotional intensity? How long have stress, grief, sadness, distress and anger been present?
2- Local/Surface Treatment:
The first approach is local treatment. Locally, injections in the form of quaddel are given wherever the pain or problem is located.
Local Anesthetic is injected into the trigger points detected as a result of the Physical Examination. 71-80% of acupuncture points are trigger points. If a trigger point is active, it is obvious that there is lymphatic dysfunction in that area. With the logic of acupuncture, it does not matter whether that point is painful or sensitive because Body Acupuncture points are always fixed and can be detected. Within the framework of the diagnosis, the point that is thought to be beneficial in the treatment is stimulated.
However, in Neural Therapy, it is aimed to regulate this point that has become active and gives pathological reflexes. Because trigger points are local sensitive points where lymphatic flow accumulates in the muscle. The lymphatic system is a unidirectional pathway and aims to transport the residual substances that have occurred in the organ in the tissue. The superficial injection method can also be performed on special acupuncture points (acu-points). Acupuncture treats the perivascular sympathetic plexus, sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers. These are the only structures in the body that can translate the signal from the needle tip into an action potential. Acu-points do not really exist; they are places where autonomic nerve fibers are concentrated, especially around blood and lymph vessels (research: Schnorrenberger, Germany).
The so-called acu-points on the body, ears, scalp, inside the mouth, tongue and other areas are very important for the regulation of the autonomic nervous system. The advantage of this over Traditional Chinese Acupuncture treatment is that when appropriate drugs are injected into the acu-points, the stimulation from this area, which is rich in sympathetic fibers, has a dramatic effect.
From this point of view, even with the Acupuncture approach, the application of Local Anesthetic has a more regulating feature than the needle inserted into the Acupuncture point.
Perhaps from this point of view, Injection Acupuncture can be defined. However, Neural Therapy is not limited to local injections but includes a more comprehensive approach.
However, what acupuncturists say for neural therapy and local injections to acu points represent at most 25% of Neural Therapy. When you look at the whole book, it will be seen that the therapy is in different approaches rather than local fixed points. These physicians, regardless of their academic titles, who claim to have an opinion without having knowledge, should first do some work on what neural therapy is.
3-Segmental and Deep Injections:
In cases where local treatment is insufficient, segmental treatment is used. The definition of segment is not the same as dermatome; segment covers the dermatome. The essence of segmental treatment is that any irritation causes a reflex response in all or part of the segment and an interaction from the periphery to the organ and from the organ to the periphery by finding a path through the medulla spinalis (cutaneo-visceral reflex line). In patients who do not benefit from acupuncture, segmental and deep Local Anesthetic injections should be the first application.
HEAD and MACKENZIE observed that a diseased organ produces various reactions in the skin and subcutaneous zones, which are regular and precisely defined. From this they concluded that any organ may communicate with a certain superficial region of the body through cutaneo-visceral reflex channels. The human body can be divided into a total of 30 segments, 8 in the cervical region, 12 in the thoracic region, 5 in the lumbar region and 5 in the sacral region. All the formations within a segment are in relationship with each other. For this reason, an obstacle or stimulus that will occur within the segment will affect not only the problematic area but the entire segment. This mechanism is utilized in neural therapy. For example, quadel or periosteal stimulation applied to a segment is not only limited to the area of application, but also positively affects the organs, muscles and all other structures within the segment and increases the blood supply of that area.
The segment is also diagnostically important. The color changes observed in the segment by inspection and palpation, the tone of the muscles, the functions of organs and joints give us information about the patient. Even the interference fields within that area can cause localized skin and subcutaneous changes. A successful treatment will also result in an improvement in the tone and turgor within the segment. Segment therapy is an important therapeutic approach in Neural Therapy.
With the injection of procaine into the irritated segment, membrane polarization is restored, pathogenic conductions in the reflex lines are eliminated and normal conduction is established. Thus, all vegetative processes return to their optimal function.
An example of deep injections is sacroiliac joint injection.
Attention!!! Using a few drops of procaine in the right place is more meaningful and effective than using liters of medication.
The patient should be checked 24 hours after each injection and any changes in symptoms should be recorded. If there is a response to treatment, segmental application should be continued until the disease is cured. If there is no response to treatment, the patient's anamnesis should be reviewed and the temporal relationship of the disease should be re-evaluated.
4- Intra and paravasal Injection:
This approach is especially helpful in patients with VSS dysfunction at the forefront. In the classical understanding of acupuncture, the importance of VSS dysfunction is not at the forefront.
5- Ganglion Treatment:
In cases where there is no response to treatment, it is necessary to intervene in the higher acting organs. In this sense, the ganglia in the area where the discomfort is located are also included in the treatment. Ganglion injection is the fastest way for ganglion detoxification. Besides the known effects of ganglia in modern medicine, we know that sympathetic branches are very important. Ganglion therapy is the backbone of Neural Therapy.
There is no such approach in acupuncture, nor is there even an assumption that such an effect could be possible. It should be known that each sympathetic ganglion injection has a permanent effect at the site and region of application and is an indispensable part of regulation therapy.
I am of the opinion that if the physicians dealing with acupuncture learn Neural Therapy, their success in their daily practice will increase and their healing times will shorten. Neuraltherapy is a method that can be applied alone or can be combined very well with Acupuncture.
6- Disruptive Field Treatment:
As mentioned above, a previous or existing local irritation in any part of the body can become a pathological area (interference field) and cause disorders in some of the body functions by disrupting the neurovegetative system. Therefore, in case of no response to treatment, it is extremely important to investigate and treat the interference fields. Of course, first of all, it is necessary to examine whether the Adler points are sensitive or not and to regulate the problematic region or area.
It is known that at least 30% of the patients we see today are caused by the interference field. It is not possible to achieve success without eliminating the interference field. The most effective form of therapy in the elimination of the interference field is Neural Therapy.
It should not be forgotten that approximately 30% of the interference fields are in the oral maxillofacial dental complex. In addition to Neural Therapy in the treatment of diseases, utilizing other complementary therapies such as Acupuncture, manual therapy, magnetic field, biophoton, homeopathy, ozone therapy, colon hydrotherapy etc. will further increase the success of us physicians.
Conclusion How should the approach be in treatment?
If the patient has a needle phobia, it would be correct to treat both the acupuncture points and the localizations where Neural Therapy will be applied with a soft laser rather than acupuncture or Neural Therapy.
However, when using a soft laser, I worked with a combination device developed by Dr. Lüdwig, which sends the procaine wavelength to the target via Laser + Magnetic Field. I observed more successful results with this device than the most effective soft laser device I know.
Those without needle phobia!
In patients who are not needle-phobic and do not have any VSS dysfunction, it may make sense to start with microsystem acupuncture. Neural therapy should be prioritized if a rapid effect and result is aimed. Because the effect of neural therapy is very fast and regulation starts early.
In patients who are resistant to therapy and whose discomfort started after a certain event, Neural Therapy is arguably the most effective method. Because the source of the problem is the interference field and it needs to be eliminated as soon as possible. After the interference field is eliminated, microsystem acupuncture can be used to support the psychological structure of the patient and to ensure energy regulation.
Acupuncture and Neural Therapy can be applied together. Both methods have an effect on regulation. The proximity of both methods to each other shows that they can be treated in combination. If a question is asked “which one can be given up”, I can say acupuncture out loud.
However, although I am a physician who completed his acupuncture training in Germany in 1992, I am a person who applies combined therapies in my own clinic. It has been a long time since I applied acupuncture needles to body acupuncture points. I have been applying LA since Prof. Dr. Dr. Herget's comparative applications of procain to acupuncture points with acupuncture needles and I observed the clear superiority of LA. Because many of these points are already trigger points. I know that a point that is not sensitive and does not give a pathological signal should not be stimulated.
I have gained this experience primarily from Prof. Herget, Felix Mann and Jochen Gleditsch. Instead, I also inject Local Anesthetic into the Acupuncture point that I find active, which I think is effective in the treatment while applying with the logic of Neural Therapy. However, as a physician who frequently uses microsystem Acupuncture, I apply Acupuncture needles to the points I find pathological. In intraoral Acupuncture, I only use LA, which I know its importance for Neural Therapy.
The similarity of indications shortens the duration of therapy in combined therapy. While 15-20 sessions are frequently applied with the classical Acupuncture approach, patients combined with Neuraltherapy recover in much shorter periods of time. The average number of applications in Neural Therapy is 4-5 sessions.
As a result, Neuraltherapy is an application method that can be successfully applied alone and can be combined with other complementary medicine methods. However, the effect, approach, evaluation and application of Neural Therapy is different from Acupuncture. It is a method with its own discipline.
In developed countries and even in China, there are Traditional Chinese Medicine chairs rather than Acupuncture chairs. In addition to pulse and tongue diagnosis, they combine the approach of Tao philosophy, the importance of the five elements, nutrition, phytotherapy, exercise, psychological support and certain purification practices. I think the solution with acupuncture alone is a bit unique to our country.
My experience and observation during my time working with Prof. Dr. Herget and studies in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Belgium and Latin American countries show that this is the case.
Attacking or insulting a method without knowing it is a bit of an Eastern approach. As someone who knows what Acupuncture and Neural Therapy are and has academic studies on this subject, I think I have an obligation to clear up the confusion here or to show the similarities and differences of the two methods.
With Acupuncture, it is possible to have an effect on the body only from one place, that is, from the surface, while with Neural Therapy, it is possible to have an effect in many different layers. Neural therapy is widely practiced in Europe and the USA, especially in Germany. At the University of Bern in Switzerland, there is a Department of Neural Therapy. It is headed by my dear friend Prof. Dr. Lorenz Fischer. In Turkey, until six years ago, this form of treatment was practiced only by physicians who had been to Germany and received training. However, for the last six years, it has become a form of treatment in Turkey, with physicians showing interest in this treatment every day and participating in the training of physicians.

Neural therapy is a local (regional) injection method that allows the body to regain its internal balance by acting on the vegetative, also known as autonomic nervous system. It also activates the body's repair systems and allows the body to treat itself. Therefore, its effects are permanent.
Vegetative Nervous System = Autonomic nervous system: It is part of the system that regulates all autonomic (involuntary) functions of the body. Basic functions such as the functioning of the heart, controlling blood pressure, regulating hormones, the functioning of the digestive system, bowel movements, urination, sexual functions, menstruation, sweating and regulating body temperature are all carried out through this system.
If there is an irregularity in this system, heart palpitations, blood pressure problems, digestive problems, constipation and diarrhea, hormone irregularities (related reproductive problems), menstrual irregularities, excessive sweating or feeling too hot or too cold. This proves that diseases give us symptoms through the autonomic nervous system.
This means that neural therapy can treat diseases through the vegetative nervous system. As a matter of fact, neural therapy is applied by acting on this system. It is the most effective form of treatment on the regulation of the impaired nervous system. It is a very widely used form of treatment, especially in Germany.
The injections made during the application are not directly into the nerves, but into the subcutaneous areas where the nerves are most dense. Therefore, it has almost no side effects.
Since these nerves under the skin cover the whole body like an information network, there is no problem in the transmission of the stimulus. Thus, the body's internal balance is maintained, the negative effect on the cells is removed and the normal functioning of the cells is ensured. At this point, you need complementary medicine methods that break the pain reflex arc and cleanse your body from toxins. The most important of these is neural therapy.
I have been dealing with neural therapy for 4 years and I have started to like it more and more every day. The results I get in treatments are satisfying. With neural therapy, a treatment protocol is determined by considering the body as a whole, evaluating the time relationship well, taking into account the traumas, surgeries and all the elements that will be a disruptive area. Taking into account the segmental approach and the sympathetic ganglion and innervation relationship of that region, the percentage of patients who do not benefit from the treatment is less than 10 percent. These were cases of tissue damage or surgical indications.

I was trained in complementary medicine and neural therapy in Federal Germany. For many years, I have been giving seminars under the supervision of the Neural Therapy Society according to the International Huneke program. In 2004, we established the Neural Therapy Association for the first time in Turkey. This association is the only association in Turkey accepted by the International Neural Therapy Society. I am a member of the board of directors of the International Neuraltherapy Association and the founder and president of the association established in Turkey. Neuraltherapy education in Turkey is given under my leadership. I am the only doctor in Turkey who is authorized to give internationally recognized Neural Therapy training. So far, under my presidency in Turkey, we have held 3 International Neural Therapy Congresses, 6 Symposiums, over 100 trainings, the shortest of which is 2 days, and 5 congresses and symposiums in different countries in Europe, especially in Germany. As in complementary medicine, there are not enough written resources on Neural Therapy in Turkish. We give seminar booklets to the physicians we train. There are only two sources written in Turkish on this subject and these sources belong to me. In 2002, my Acupuncture-Complementary Medicine Book published by Nobel Medical Bookstore and in May 2010, my Neural Therapy textbook was published by Nobel Bookstore. In addition, there is a complementary medicine journal that has been published continuously since 2006 under my leadership and the name of this journal is BARNAT.
